Professional Experience

Edward Keating (born 1930), studied mechanical engineering at The Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Illinois, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1952.  Following his graduation from The Illinois Institute of Technology, he served as an engineering officer in the Navy.  He then attended DePaul University School of Law in Chicago, Illinois and was awarded his Juris Doctor in 1960.

After graduation from DePaul University, Mr. Keating joined the firm of Ooms, Welsh & Bradway in Chicago specializing in intellectual property law.  In 1963, he joined the firm of Parker and Carter and until 2000 was associated with that firm and its successors as an associate and then as a partner.  Mr. Keating joined Cook, Alex, McFarron, Manzo, Cummings & Mehler, Ltd. in 2000 as a shareholder.
           
With more than 40 years of experience, Mr. Keating’s practice has involved a broad spectrum of intellectual property law matters.  Mr. Keating has had extensive experience in patent, trademark and copyright litigation, patent validity and infringement analysis, patent prosecution, license and agreement preparation, trademark clearance and registration, copyright matters and general client counseling.  He presently represents a wide variety of clients in patent, trademark and copyright matters.
